Remote AI engineering jobs
This is the newest board here and the most remote-friendly, largely because the experience is scarce enough that geography loses the argument. It is also the board where job titles tell you the least. Two postings can both say AI engineer and mean training models in one case and wiring a retrieval pipeline into a web application in the other.

Most of it is application engineering
The bulk of these roles are software engineering with a model in the loop: retrieval over a company's own documents, evaluation harnesses that catch a regression before a customer does, tool-calling agents that have to fail safely, and the unglamorous work of caching and cost control. Solid backend fundamentals carry further here than a research background, and the interviews increasingly reflect that.
Read past the title
Because the vocabulary is three years old, titles are still unstable — AI engineer, ML engineer, forward-deployed engineer and applied scientist all overlap and none of them pins the work down. Every listing here was classified from its description rather than its title, which is why some roles that never say AI in the heading appear anyway. Skim the responsibilities before deciding whether a posting is yours.
