Senior Python jobs
Python is easy to start with and hard to keep tidy at scale, and senior hiring in this market reflects that. The roles that pay well are usually the ones where somebody has to impose structure on a codebase that grew quickly, or decide what to do about a service that works but nobody can safely change.

Typing, tooling and the arguments about them
Type annotations, the checker a team runs, and how strictly it is enforced come up constantly at this level, because they are the closest thing this ecosystem has to a shared answer for large-codebase safety. A team that has made a decision and stuck to it is usually a better place to work than one still arguing, and the posting often reveals which it is.
Ownership tends to be broad
Smaller backend teams mean a senior Python engineer is frequently responsible for the database, the background workers and the deployment as well as the application code. That is worth checking rather than assuming, because the same title elsewhere means one service inside a platform with separate infrastructure and data teams.
