PHP jobs in Europe
PHP hiring in Europe is healthier than its reputation outside the continent suggests, and it is concentrated in agencies, ecommerce operators and long-lived platforms in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Poland and Spain. Symfony has a particularly strong institutional position in France, where it originated.

Laravel and Symfony hire for different things
Laravel work skews toward product teams and agencies moving quickly, where the framework's conventions do a lot of the deciding. Symfony work skews toward larger, longer-lived systems where the team has made its own architectural choices and expects a new engineer to understand them before changing any. The tags on a listing usually settle which one a posting is.
Why the board looks smaller than the market
PHP is the noisiest language name on a job board. It appears in file paths, in application URLs and in lists of technologies a company happens to run, so a posting mentioning it is often hiring for something else entirely. The listings here are filtered to ones hiring for PHP, which means fewer results and far less wasted reading.
