Role Overview
We are looking for Lead Modernization Developers with strong hands-on focus on Ruby on Rails and NGINX-based application services. The role requires the ability to lead development execution, guide technical decisions, mentor team members, and drive modernization outcomes across legacy and evolving platforms. In addition to Ruby on Rails and NGINX, the candidate should bring working knowledge of Ai Assisted coding practices to strengthen solution quality, testability, engineering discipline, and delivery reliability.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead development activities for Ruby on Rails-based services, including maintenance, enhancement, refactoring, modernization, and production support.
• Own and support NGINX configuration, routing, reverse proxy setup, request handling, service hosting patterns, and performance-related improvements for existing systems.
• Provide technical leadership to developers by reviewing designs, guiding implementation choices, resolving blockers, and ensuring coding standards are followed.
• Apply AI-led engineering practices to accelerate debugging, refactoring, test generation, documentation, and modernization analysis using Spec driven coding
• Review AI-generated code critically and ensure changes meet review, quality, testing, security, and maintainability expectations.
• Contribute to database design, query optimization, data access improvements, and reliable integration patterns for modernization initiatives.
Required Skills
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Ruby on Rails for development, maintenance, debugging, refactoring, and modernization of existing services.
• Solid understanding of NGINX including routing, reverse proxying, configuration troubleshooting, service hosting, request flow, and performance tuning basics.
• Proven ability to work as a lead developer, including task planning, code reviews, technical mentoring, design validation, issue triage, and delivery ownership.
• Experience applying AI coding assistants or AI-enabled engineering tools in delivery workflows.
• Ability to review, validate, and improve AI-generated code with engineering judgment.
• Understanding of microservices, APIs, modernization patterns, and service-oriented development.
• Good communication skills to work with product, business, engineering, QA, and leadership stakeholders.
• Strong database fundamentals including SQL, schema understanding, query optimization, transaction handling, and data access troubleshooting is a plus.
Preferred Skills
• Prior experience leading small development teams or workstreams in application modernization, production support, or platform enhancement programs.
• Understanding of data and AI-driven development approaches for modernization assessment and delivery acceleration.
