About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Full-Stack Engineer to work across the entire technology stack, including Ruby on Rails backend development, frontend applications, relational databases, third-party integrations, AI-powered features, and data-intensive systems.
You will contribute to two core products: a consent management platform and a proprietary lead tracking system. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll own features end-to-end—from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance—while working closely with the founder and engineering team.
The ideal candidate combines strong Ruby on Rails expertise with experience building scalable, data-intensive applications in production. Beyond developing features, this engineer understands how to design reliable systems that perform under high-volume workloads, maintain exceptional code quality, and support AI-powered capabilities without compromising security, privacy, or performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain features across the company's consent management and lead tracking platforms.
- Own features end-to-end, from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
- Design and optimize scalable backend architectures capable of supporting high-throughput applications and growing data volumes.
- Build and maintain lead management workflows, including lead capture, scoring, assignment, tracking, attribution, and reporting.
- Build and optimize data pipelines that support reporting, analytics, AI features, and business operations.
- Design and maintain integrations with third-party APIs, including CRM platforms, payment gateways, email and SMS providers, analytics platforms, and other business systems.
- Develop AI-powered features such as intelligent lead scoring, automated data extraction, summarization, workflow automation, and conversational AI using modern LLM APIs.
- Build responsive, user-friendly frontend interfaces using JavaScript and modern frameworks such as React, Vue, or Hotwire.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested Ruby on Rails code following modern engineering best practices.
- Design, optimize, and maintain relational databases using PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
- Implement asynchronous processing using Sidekiq, Resque, or similar background job technologies.
- Participate in code reviews while helping establish and maintain high engineering standards.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and proactively improve application scalability, stability, and reliability.
- Maintain a security-first mindset by implementing authentication, authorization, encryption, audit logging, and secure handling of sensitive user data.
- Ensure applications comply with privacy requirements, including GDPR, CCPA, TCPA, and other relevant regulations when handling personally identifiable information (PII).
- Evaluate AI privacy and security considerations when integrating external AI services into production systems.
- Collaborate with the founder and engineering team on architecture, product direction, and technical decision-making.
- Maintain application dependencies and proactively resolve security vulnerabilities and technical debt.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve system architecture, engineering processes, and overall platform performance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional full-stack software development experience building production applications with Ruby on Rails.
- Strong production experience developing and maintaining applications using Ruby on Rails.
- Experience building scalable applications that support high-volume workloads and production environments.
- Experience with data engineering, data pipelines, quantitative data analysis, or other data-intensive systems.
- Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs such as Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, or similar platforms into production applications.
- Experience building AI-powered features such as intelligent lead scoring, data extraction, summarization, workflow automation, or conversational AI.
- Strong understanding of structured LLM outputs, function calling, JSON generation, and resilient AI application design.
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, webhooks, OAuth, and third-party integrations.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, including PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
- Strong frontend development experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and at least one modern frontend framework such as React, Vue, or Hotwire.
- Experience implementing asynchronous processing using Sidekiq, Resque, or similar technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable, thoroughly tested, and highly reliable production code.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, performance optimization, scalability, and system reliability.
- Experience troubleshooting production issues while maintaining existing integrations and platform stability.
- Strong knowledge of secure coding practices and common web application vulnerabilities, including SQL injection, XSS, and CSRF.
- Experience implementing authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure credential management.
- Understanding of AI privacy, security, and the responsible handling of personally identifiable information (PII).
- Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, TCPA, or similar privacy regulations.
- Experience using Git, pull requests, code reviews, and collaborative software development workflows.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
- Professional-level written and verbal English communication skills.
- Must be located in Latin America.
Bonus Experience
- Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, AI agents, or agentic workflows.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar platforms.
- Experience building CRM, lead management, or marketing automation platforms.
- Experience developing consent management or other compliance-heavy applications.
- Experience designing or maintaining large-scale data pipelines and analytics platforms.
- Experience working with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or high-concurrency applications.
- Experience with security reviews, penetration testing remediation, SOC 2, or ISO 27001 environments.
