Role Description
An E-commerce Web Developer is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing e-commerce websites and online shopping platforms. The role works closely with product, marketing, design, sales, and IT teams to ensure websites provide secure, responsive, user-friendly, and high-performing digital shopping experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and enhance e-commerce websites and online platforms.
- Build responsive and user-friendly web interfaces for desktop and mobile devices.
- Develop and integrate product catalogs, shopping carts, checkout, payment, and order management functions.
- Integrate third-party services, APIs, payment gateways, shipping systems, and external platforms.
- Optimize website performance, loading speed, scalability, and reliability.
- Implement website security, authentication, data protection, and access controls.
- Troubleshoot and resolve website errors, technical issues, bugs, and performance problems.
- Develop and maintain integrations with ERP, CRM, inventory, warehouse, and customer management systems.
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers to implement effective and engaging online shopping experiences.
- Support SEO, analytics, conversion optimization, and other e-commerce performance initiatives.
- Conduct functional, integration, performance, and cross-browser testing.
- Manage website updates, deployments, version control, and production releases.
- Monitor website performance, availability, traffic, and technical issues.
- Maintain technical documentation, development standards, and system records.
- Stay updated on emerging web technologies, e-commerce platforms, development frameworks, and security practices.
- Recommend and implement technical improvements to enhance customer experience and business performance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in web development, e-commerce development, or online retail platforms.
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web development frameworks.
- Experience with PHP, Python, Java, Node.js, or other server-side programming languages.
- Experience with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, or similar systems is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of databases, APIs, web services, and system integrations.
- Experience integrating payment gateways, shipping platforms, ERP systems, and third-party services.
- Knowledge of SEO, web analytics, website security, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with Git, REST APIs, cloud platforms, and CI/CD tools is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, technical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication, coordination, and teamwork abilities.
